Hello, we are Alastair and Amanda we run Meadow & Woodland Livestock, which is situated at Badlingham on the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire boarder between Chippenham & Freckenham. We met in 2017 and both had the same interest to keep our own rare breed livestock. We both decided lets make our dream a reality!
So with Alastair’s family previously keeping sheep and pigs while he was growing up, we both decided that there must be a way we could achieve it again and also allow our own daughter to experience the same. We brought our first 6 Southdown ewes in 2018, 3 ewes and 3 shearlings. The 3 ewes were already in lamb which we welcomed in February 2019. As each year passes we try to keep a few of the best stock to increase our flock size, we also introduced other rare breeds along side our first southdown flock. Having decided that we would pursue rare breeds for their meat as well as at the same time preserving the breeds we love.
In 2021 we decided the time was right for the next chapter to keep rare breed pigs in woodland areas.
