WOODLAND Management

PIGS IN THE WOODS

The benefits of allowing pigs to roam in a woodland area include:

  • They act as a natural predator for invasive species of plants for example nettles and brambles.
  • Reducing the density of the ground layer to allow more sun light onto the ground which encourages new growth.
  • Increasing the number of new saplings due to their rooting/ foraging techniques which disturbs the soil.
  • Breaking up soil which can promote regeneration.
  • Providing invertebrate habitat/food through their dung.
  • Natural improving the quality of the soil through fertilising it by their dung.
  • Generating nesting materials for birds.

If you're in need of Woodland Clearing or would like to use this technique for your woodland we would love to hear from you!

Sheep Grazing

GRAZING GRASSLAND

 Benefit of sheep grazing:

  • Sheep can eat lower than most other grazing animals which also keeps the grass at a more manageable state.
  • Fertilise the land where they have been with their dung which helps with new and healthy growth.
  • Helps to leave the grassland in more of a even state.

If you have any spare grazing land and don't want to mow to save fuel costs have you ever thought about sheep grazing.

We would love to hear from you!
